From hands-on training inside prisons to community-centered education for children, our projects offer tangible pathways to dignity, inclusion, and economic opportunity.
We collaborate closely with local artisans, social workers, and educators to ensure our work is both impactful and sustainable—laying the groundwork for personal and societal transformation.

Seeds of Change
Stitching New Beginnings is the first project to be implemented by Craft for Growth in all Mozambican prisons as we begin our journey. It serves as the foundation of our work, from which other handcrafted techniques and creative skills will grow. This pilot initiative offers a three-month basic sewing training program for 20 incarcerated women, providing daily classes focused on practical sewing skills. Participants learn to work with capulana, a vibrant and culturally meaningful fabric in Mozambique, creating their very first products - market-ready, beautifully crafted tote bags. But this project is about more than stitching fabric - it's about stitching dignity, empowerment, and new possibilities. Through learning a valuable and transferable skill, participants not only gain the tools to generate income but also reclaim their sense of identity and purpose. The process strengthens cultural pride, builds confidence, and opens the door to a future beyond confinement. With a strong emphasis on social reintegration and long-term transformation, Stitching New Beginnings establishes the groundwork for ongoing education, entrepreneurship, and the expansion of Craft for Growth’s activities into other prisons across the country.
